The disconnect between favorability and legitimacy is a sharp point that doesn't get enough attention. Polling showing 48% favorability in both 2015 and 2025 suggests these numbers track ideological alignment more than institutional confidence. The fact that Democrats' concern about the Court having "too much power" dropped from 62% to 43% in just a year is particuarly revealing, almost like the metric itself shifts with political winds. I've seen similar issues with how polling on institutions gets weaponized in arguments without digging into what the questions actually measure vs. whatthe rhetoric implies.
